Digital canvas for aircraft restaurant module

A3, the Silicon Valley outpost of the Airbus Group, challenged us to create a cutting-edge solution for the windowless and curved restaurant & bar modules of the TRANSPOSE project. The project is a flying prototype that uses a modular interior to define the future of passenger aviation, including a whole new airplane ownership business model and ecosystem. A digital canvas has been created that can adjust its visuals instantly. A system to set the ambiance and restaurant identity for any cuisine served on board and can change along with the visual identity of any commercial operator. The TRANSPOSE project has been awarded a FastCompany “design by Innovation Award 2017”.

In our season premiere of our new video series Next Level with senior technology editor Lauren Goode, we got the exclusive first look inside what multinational aviation company Airbus has been working on in its Silicon Valley labs: modular airplane cabins, ones that can be swapped out in less than an hour to give commercial flyers the experience of spas, gyms, and day care centers while they're in flight.
Transpose is a project dedicated to bringing more choice to more people in commercial flight. Learn more at https://flytranspose.com/.
